FAQs

Find answers to common questions about our trips, bookings, and what to pack.

How much is the deposit and when is it due?

A non-refundable deposit of $25 per day for the length of the trip is due at the time of booking. (A 5-day trip will require a deposit of $125) Your seat on the bus is not secured if the deposit has not been paid.

What kind of hotels can I expect to stay in?

As a rule we try to stay in Hampton Inns or possibly other Hilton owned properties. If Hilton properties are not available, we try to use Holiday Inn Express locations. Once in a while we try to stay at a special property within a National or State Park.

Are meals included in the price of the trip?

As a rule, travelers are asked to pay for one meal per day out of pocket. Breakfast is usually included in our hotel stays. Heartland Travel Adventures, LLC attempts to pick up one meal per day for our travelers.

Do I need to budget for any entrance fees on the trip?

Heartland Travel Adventures, LLC pays for all admission fees. Some stops might include an “add-on” activity that travelers might want to do on their own and are free to do that providing they pay the extra fee at the activity. (For example: Some folks might want to bungee jump while we visit the Royal Gorge. Folks wanting to bungee jump will pay that extra fee at the Royal Gorge and enjoy the jump).

How much luggage am I able to bring on the bus?

We travel by motorcoach so there is ample room for luggage under the bus. We will never fill a bus so there will be plenty of space. Smaller carry on items can be stored in the overhead compartments above your seat.

Will I have an assigned seat on the bus or will I be asked to change seats during the trip?

We do not assign seats. We try to keep out numbers on a trip from 20 to 35 (maximum) on a 52 passenger bus. We feel that travelers are more comfortable if they can spread out or freely move about the bus and visit with other folks while on the trip. We also let folks sit in the same seat the entire trip if they choose.

Where will I meet the bus?

We try to pick up travelers along our route. We always start from Herington (7 N. First Street) If we are going south, we will pick up in Marion at the Marion Senior Center (309 Third Street). We try to work out other possibilities along the route.
